Your Life is a Song.

June 26, 2012

Our lives – how we live, how we act, how we talk, what we do – are a love poem to the Lover of our souls.

My life and yours is the written sonnet to the King in motion.
Every word.
Every action.
Every moment we stand in silence.
Every time we don’t act.
It all reflects our hearts. It all shows who and what we love. It shows how we love.

This past fall, He put on my heart these words….

“Live the way He loves me.”

For months I thought I meant to live according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
It does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

Though we are called to love each other in this way, it goes beyond loving the people close to our hearts-the easy to love. I’m by no means saying some of the people in my life, or yours, are the easiest to love. Nor have I been someone people just can’t wait to pour themselves into. Even if it is a challenge to love them, it makes it much easier to give our most precious gift -love- away when we have invested our hearts into another soul.

But what about those that cross our paths just for a moment? What about those that erk every fiber of our being? What about those we never see or meet?

All we do and say ripples into His Kingdom. It is all a drop in the ocean. Without every drop, we would have no sea. And like a wave, it comes and goes. A single moment, every moment, that we live is sent out into this world-and into eternity. Yet, it will always come back around.

Living the way He loves me means being patient with those I don’t know. Means not judging the ones I don’t understand. It means promoting and encouraging hearts with words of love. It means my actions lift up instead of tearing down.

If everything you say and do effects eternity, how would you change your life? How would you choose your words and actions?

Truth is, your life, every word said or left unsaid and every action or lack there of, is the lyrics of a song that echoes into eternity.

You are an instrument.
Your actions and words are the lyrics.
And your life… is a song.
