Tough Love.

October 12, 2012

Maybe the people that hurt us, or the situations we have been hurt weren’t just coincidence.

What if the experience was given not to create anger in our hearts but to change our hearts?

God gives trials and pain so we can learn what it’s like to forgive someone who, in our eyes, doesn’t deserve our forgiveness.

Truth is, that’s what God sees when He looks at us.

C.S. Lewis said that being a Christian means forgiving the inexcusable in others because that’s what God has done for us.

The way I see it, those pains and trials were a gift.

In each of those encounters I was given a choice, to be angry and bitter OR to let it make me better.

Perhaps the process to forgive teaches us the lesson of love.

Where we surrender our hate because the truth is, when we look back on those situations, they have ALWAYS made us better.

Our trials and tribulations can either harden our hearts, or they soften us to understand how love is meant to be.

Unconditional.

It’s the tough love of the Only One who knows how to truly love.
